A 20-year-old youth from Delhi was rescued from McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh on March 25. Himanshu Ahuja was on a college trip to this place and was missing for the last eight days. His survival was miraculous as he survived without food for eight days. He was rescued with some minor injuries in the harsh weather conditions.

A group of 40 students and teachers had gone to Bhagsu Waterfalls where Himanshu went missing. As the college authorities failed to find him, they filed a missing complaint last week.

Police and Army teams tried to find him for 5 long days but couldn’t trace him. Another trekker, Ranjit Singh, along with his team found Himanshu after combing the area on Monday. Himanshu has sustained an injury on his leg.

Ranjeet said that they found the youth beneath a tree alongside a small cave. Also, there was a spring of water. Himanshu, says Ranjit, survived only on water.

Superintendent of Police Santosh Patial said that Himanshu was wearing warm clothes when he went missing. “The trekkers were aware about the area. Thus after getting the information about the college trip, the police went to search for missing Himanshu. Also, they shared the videos and photos expressing their happiness on locating Himanshu.

According to the sources, Himanshu left the group after he had some issues with his college mates to be found on Monday.
