Several other members of the marriage party injured in this accident
The Hush Post: A minimum of 21 members of a marriage party were killed and many others injured when the vehicle, they were travelling in, fell off the bridge on Sone River in Madhya Pradesh’s Sindhi district.
According to the officials, the incident occurred late on Tuesday night. Besides the deaths injuries to several other members of the marriage party were reported in this tragic accident. The marriage party was reportedly going in a mini-truck, DNA reported on Wednesday.
Many other injured persons in the accident were admitted to the district hospital. The officials said that several persons had died after getting trapped in the vehicle.
The district collector and the district police chief reached the accident site and were supervising the rescue operation, the report said.
“21 people have died in the accident and many have been injured. The injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” confirming the death toll, Sidhi District Collector Dilip Kumar reportedly said.
Meanwhile Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, expressing sorrow over this accident, has announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted: “The tragic accident on Jogdaha bridge on Sone river in Sidhi district is extremely painful. I pray to God for peace to the deceased souls and early recovery to injured.”
The vehicle fell off the Jogdaha bridge near Amelia in Bahri area of Sindhi district. The mini-truck fell about 60-70-foot down on the dry river bed. Rescue operations were on to save the injured and pull out the truck from the dry river.
