A 21-year-old youth in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh died after some unidentified people tied his neck to a motorcycle and dragged him for around 15 kilometres on Tuesday.
According to the reports, the body had a bullet injury and the left foot was severed due to dragging. However, the police said that they weren’t sure if the deceased Mukul Kumar was shot dead before being dragged on the motorcycle.
Superintendent of Police (rural) Avinash Pandey reportedly said, “The body bore several injury marks on face and head. The left foot was severed and the right foot was badly mutilated. We traced the blood trail to 15 kilometers near Mandi area of Hapur district, where Mukul lived with his family.”
Further, he said, “It clearly indicates that the body was dragged for such a long distance and dumped in Meerut’s Kharkhoda area. Also, a motorcycle was found near the body.”
On Tuesday, the body was spotted near an under-construction underpass near Dheerkheda village.
According to the deceased’s family, he didn’t have enmity with anyone. His uncle Azad Vir said, “Muul had finished his studies last year. He stayed with his mother and elder brother in Hapur. He never engaged in any kind of fight with anyone.”
An FIR has been registered regarding the case. The SP in his statement said, “The criminals would not have left the motorcycle had they intended to loot him. It could be a dispute involving his friends.”
The motorcycle found from the spot belonged to Sachin, a resident of Rohta village of Meerut. The police informed that Mukul had borrowed the motorcycle a day before the incident happened.
The police said that they were checking the call records of the deceased. They also informed that there was a deep wound behind the head which indicated that he might have been shot.
“The picture will get clear after the post-mortem report,” the SP added.
