Over 29 people were killed and several others injured after a bus carrying 50 passengers fell in a drain on Yamuna Expressway. The incident took place on Monday morning. Reportedly, the UP Roadways bus driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus which was going from Lucknow to Delhi, hit the railing and fell into ‘Jharna Nalla’.
According to the police report, at 10 pm on Sunday, the bus had started from the Alambagh Bus Station in Lucknow. It had crossed the Lucknow Expressway and Inner Ring Road by 3:30 am on Monday. Around 4:30 am, the driver apparently dozed off and lost control on the steering.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an investigation.
Also, the Uttar Pradesh Roadways has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
“Pained by accident on Delhi-Agra expressway. May God give strength to the kind of the deceased, my condolences with the families. I pray for speedy recovery of those injured,” Piyush Goyal, railway minister tweeted.
