The Hush Post, Jalandhar: A 70-year-old NRI was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Jalandhar. UK-based Kuldeep Singh had was staying in room number 202 at Hotel President in the city. The police have sent the dead body for post mortem and have started investigating the matter.
According to police sources, Kuldeep Singh had checked in the hotel on January 26 along with his wife but later he left his wife in Delhi at a relative’s place for her treatment. He hailed from Hajra village in Jalandhar and had come from UK to get the annual contract money for his agriculture land.
Hotel manager Aditya Arora said that Kuldeep Singh had ordered dinner around 10:30pm on Tuesday. But on Wednesday morning when a waiter came to deliver him bed tea, the room did not open despite repeated knocking at the door. The waiter rang the door bell but got no response. The waiter informed the hotel authorities who opened the door with the master key and found Kuldeep Singh lying unconscious on the floor. The police were informed who took him to the local Civil Hospital for medical examination. After examination doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh’s relative Sumit Singh said that he was diabetic. The police have seized medicines and liquor from the hotel room where he was staying. Also, samples of the food served to the deceased have been collected and sent for forensic examination. The police have also retrieved the CCTV footage of the past some days from the hotel. Besides, the police have also taken his mobile phone in their possession and are scanning at the call details.
As his deceased’s wife is reportedly mentally upset, the police have informed Kuldeep Singh’s elder son Baljit Singh, who resides in the UK.
