8 injured as Chandigarh-Hamirpur bus overturns near Bhota in Hamirpur

A Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus overturned near Bhota in Hamirpur on Saturday evening injuring 8 passengers. The accident took place at Shukra Khadd between Bhota and Saloni. In a bid to save a speeding bike coming from the opposite direction, the driver lost control of the bus and it skidded off the road.

The HRTC bus was going to Hamirpur from Chandigarh and had 20 passengers on board. The injured were first taken to the Bhota hospital from where they were rushed to Hamirpur Medical Hospital.

The injured include Sonam Gwardu from Tauni Devi Tehsil who is pursuing her studies from Chandigarh.  Another girl from Mair (near Ukhli), who also is studying in Chanigarh, was grievously injur d in the accident.

Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner Richa Verma was at the spot till the last news came in.
