What Greta Thunberg is to Donald Trump Licypriya Kangujam is to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The eight-year-old Licypriya Kangujam, a climate activist, was invited by the government to be a part of the #SheInspiresUs campaign on Women’s Day.
However, Licypriya declined the invite. She tagged PM Narendra Modi on Twitter and wrote, “Please don’t celebrate me if you are not going to listen (to) my voice.” “Thank you for selecting me amongst the inspiring women,” she added.
Speaking to News18, she said, “This made me ask myself hundreds of questions, whether I should accept such recognition or honour or should I keep pressing for my demands,” said Licy because over the years none of her demands have been considered despite consistent protests in front of the Parliament and many other places across the country.
Here is Licypriya Kangujam’s tweet to PM Modi.
Dear @narendramodi Ji,
Please don’t celebrate me if you are not going to listen my voice.
Thank you for selecting me amongst the inspiring women of the country under your initiative #SheInspiresUs. After thinking many times, I decided to turns down this honour. ??
