Aamir Khan’s Mahabharata to be co-produced by Mukesh Ambani

The estimated cost of the film is expected to be Rs 1,000 crore

The Hush Post: Aamir Khan seems to have roped in Mukesh Ambani to co-produce his next magnum opus Mahabharata. The estimated cost of the film is expected to be Rs 1,000 crore.

This will Mukesh Ambani’s third biggest foray into the entertainment industry after his recent investments in Eros and Balaji Telefilms. Modalities of the investment are still to be chailked out and it is not yet clear whether the investment will be done directly through a new company or will be carried out through his current entities like Jio or Viacom 18.

The magnum opus Mahabharata is expected to be in the form of a series for the big screen. The big budget series is on the lines of Hollywood projects Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones and maybe split into three or five parts involving multiple directors. The project is still at a nascent stage with only pre-production in place. According to reports, international writers shall also be roped in to make the Indian epic Mahabharata appeal to a global audience.

Aamir Khan has already spoken about Mahabharata being his dream project on various public platforms. In fact, Aamir Khan had turned down  Mahesh Mathai’s biopic on cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma, to be produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur due to this dream project of his which will keep him busy for a couple of years. Aamir Khan is currently shooting to the Yash Raj production Thugs of Hindostan which stars Big B with Aamir for the first time.
