The Hush Post: Patiala Member of Parliament Dr Dharamvir Gandhi has decided to float his own political party.
Announcing this at a press conference he said that his political platform shall be called Punjab Manch. He added that this would “gradually be turned into a political party before the general elections in 2019.”
Answering questions, he alleged that AAP was moving in the same direction as other political parties and had fallen prey to “high command culture” prevalent in other parties.
On being asked whether he would quit AAP anytime soon, he said he would quit once Punjab Manch took the shape of a political party.
He added that the need of the hour was to give the status of true federalism to the relationship between the Centre and the states. Coming down heavily on the SAD, BJP, Congress and AAP, he said that many issues of Punjab had been “sacrificed at the altar of power” by the present political parties in Punjab.
Talking about other leaders he added that people such as Sucha Singh Chottepur had been forced out of AAP due to internal machinations. He added: “The ultimate aim of the manch is to evolve into a strong regional political outfit. There is a need for such an outfit in Punjab.”
