In their suicide note, the lesbian couple categorically said that they had “distanced themselves from the world so they could unite, but the world did not let them live”
The Hush Post: In a tragic incident, a lesbian couple ended life in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad by jumping into the Sabarmati River. Before that, the couple threw a 3-year-old girl child, who was the daughter of one of the lesbian women, into the river.
“They (the woman) apparently committed suicide in the wee hours. It appears that they first threw the kid into the river before jumping off the Elisbridge’’, MS Singh, an inspector at women’s police station in Ahmedabad was quoted as saying.
The cops said the lesbian women had left two suicide notes, one written on a paper plate and the other on the wall of the riverfront, both read: “We are leaving this world which will never allow us to be one’’, a report said.
The deceased were a 30-year-old Asha Thakor, her daughter 3-year-old daughter Megha and a 28-year-old woman Bhavna Thakor. Bhavna has reportedly left behind two sons.
“Except for Asha’s brother-in-law, it seems the women’s other relatives had little idea about their relationship,’’ MS Singh reportedly said. The cop said that Asha’s husband Himmatsinh Thakor had fallen ill after the incident and was under treatment, it was reported.
The cops said they would quiz the husbands of both the deceased women to get clarity on the case but said that they had ruled out the possibility of the women taking the extreme step due to harassment from their respective families, the report said.
“The note also said that no man was with them while committing suicide, which seems like their bid to give a clean chit to their spouses’’, a cop was quoted as saying.
“The two women committed suicide due to complications arising out of their lesbian relationship,” another police official was quoted.
As per the cops, preliminary reports indicate that the deceased lesbian women were co-workers of a Bavla-based factory and may have arrived in Ahmedabad city on Sunday night, the report said.
