The Hush Post: The Army thwarted an infiltration bid in Kupwara’s Keran sector and killed 6 terrorists who had sneaked across the Line of Control (LoC) early Sunday. No military personnel were injured in the gun battle. According to the officials, this was the biggest infiltration attempt in the recent months.
Earlier on Thursday, the terrorists had attacked a patrol party in the same area and gunned down a soldier and injured another. The security forces were combing the sector since until the infiltrators were spotted today.
On June 3, security forces had gunned down a terrorist while he was trying to cross the LoC in Keran.
It is to be noted that around 21 militants have been killed in Jammu & Kashmir during the last two weeks. The Centre has declared a ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir during the ongoing month of Ramzan, but the terrorists attacks have continued. The security forces, however, have been allowed to carry out operations against the terrorists if there are attacks during Ramzan.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had visited the border areas in the state two days back. He had also met the residents over there. Rajnath Singh was accompanied by state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and MoS, PMO, Jitendra Singh during the visit.
