In a shocking incident, five men allegedly gang-raped a woman in a moving car, in Assam. The incident occurred in the Nalbari district of the state.
After raping her, the accused dumped the victim at the forest area of Karkabari after tying her hands and feet.
The police said the victim was coming on a bicycle with her husband. They were returning home after shopping from Nathkuchi village of Tihu. There three men, whom the couple knew, offered to give them a lift in their car, a report said.
The husband of the victim let her go in the car while he went on his bicycle, the report said.
“According to preliminary investigation, the men took her in the car to a forest and two of them raped her. Later, one of them called two other friends from a neighbouring area. Then the accused again gang-raped her in the moving car in Tihu,” NDTV quoted Nalbari SP Shiladitya Chetia as saying.
The accused tied the victim’s hands and legs and dumped her near Karkabari forest area. The victim was rescued by some locals who told the police about the incident.
“We have arrested two of the accused and seized the Alto car in which the crime was committed. We started a search to nab the other three accused,” SP Chetia said.
The victim’s family has complained to the Tihu police. The rape survivor is recuperating at a hospital for severe physical injuries and trauma. Her condition is stable, the report said.
In August also, four men had gang-raped a woman in a similar incident in a moving car near Nagaon. Later they also had dumped along the roadside.
