The Hush Post: A yet to be explored peak in the Himalayas will be named after former prime minister and BJP founder Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This was stated by Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said on Friday.
A team of mountaineers from Uttarkashi’s Nehru Institute of Mountaineering will embark on an expedition soon.
“We plan to name an unknown peak in the Himalayas after former prime minister Vajpayee, the minister said.
The idea was conceived in view of the former prime minister’s love of nature and the mountains, he said.
After Vajpayee’s death, many state BJP governments in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and municipal corporations had announced rechristening of several sites as a mark of respect to the deceased letter.
The Jharkhand government announced to rename seven places after AB Vajpayee.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh announced that the upcoming capital of Chhattisgarh, Naya Raipur, will be known as Atal Nagar.
Ambala city’s MLA Aseem Goel announced that a planetarium, constructed in the city, will be named after the leader.
In Gujarat, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that Sabarmati Ghat would now be named ‘Atal Ghat’.
