The Hush Post: While RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav is living the life of a prisoner with bare minimum luxuries he might have witnessed as a chief minister, his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav will get engaged to his fiancé Aishwarya replete with full celebrations in Patna today. The marriage is slated for next month. This is the first time that any ceremony in his family is taking place in Lalu’s absence.
The engagement is being held in Patna at Hotel Maurya which has been decked up for the event. Flowers for the decoration have reportedly been brought from Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune. Nearly 200 people are expected to be present.
As per a news channel, Priyanka Gandhi has been invited to the event and she has accepted the invitation. Several other politicians have also been invited to the engagement ceremony today.
The marriage was finalised in March, after Lalu was awarded jail term in December. He is lodged at the Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi. Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav, 69, was awarded two jail terms of seven years each to run consecutively in the fodder scams. According to the court order, Lalu Yadav would remain in jail for the next 14 years, till 2032.
Aishwarya Rai is the eldest daughter of RJD leader Chandrika Prasad Rai.
Aishwarya’s father Chandrika Prasad Rai is a former Bihar minister, and her mother Poornima Rai is an assistant professor in Patna Women’s College. Tej Pratap Yadav represents Mahua constituency in the Bihar Assembly. He was made the environment minister in the Nitish Kumar Cabinet. He is the elder son of former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi.
