A journalist working for a national Hindi daily, Dainik Jagran was shot dead by two men on Sunday evening in Bihar’s Madhubani district. The incident took place at Sarsopahi Bazar, where two men on a motorcycle pumped two bullets into his body and fled the scene.
According to SHO Anuj Kumar, the deceased has been identified as Pradeep Mandal (36). The two miscreants have been identified as Ashok Kamat and Sushil Sah.
After the incident, Mandal was immediately rushed to Sarsopahi primary health centre. Unfortunately, doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for autopsy.
The SHO said, prima facie it seems to be the case of an old enmity between them.
Condemning the murder of the journalist, opposition RJD legislator, Shakti Singh Yadav demanded immediate arrest of the criminals. He said, “I strongly condemn the killing of the journalist in Madhubani. This is the glaring example of deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Democracy will be in perils if people, who work as watchmen of democracy, are shot dead by criminals. Journalists are the mirror of society. Therefore, it is the first and foremost duty of the government to protect them.”
