A day before her marriage, the daughter of a retired Inspector General of police, Dr Snigdha Sudhanshu, allegedly committed suicide. The daughter of IG Sudhanshu Kumar, jumped off from the terrace of 13-storey Udaygiri apartments under Kotwali police station area on Sunday morning.
Dr Snigdha, was a doctor by profession and was pursuing her MD course in Kolkata. She had allegedly come with a small plastic stool in her car to commit suicide. She apparently climbed atop the boundary wall on the roof with the help of the stool and jumped down.
A security guard at Udaygiri Apartments, said she did not sign on the register and rushed into the building, saying she had to meet a resident of the 14th floor.
Dr Snigdha’s was to marry IAS officer Mahendra Kumar, currently posted as the district magistrate (DM) of Kishanganj in Bihar. The marriage was scheduled for Monday.
“Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. A forensic sciences team has collected samples and police are looking at every possible angle. The police could not find any suicide note. But her phone has been found,” said Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj.
The victim’s family is in a state of shock, so they have not questioned them yet. However, further police investigation in the case is underway.
