The Hush Post: In an interesting case, rats drank confiscated liquor in Bihar that has imposed a complete prohibition. What? You don’t believe it? At least the Bihar government officials claim so.
The Bihar officials had found about 200 beer cans, which the officials had seized and kept in the godown, empty. The officials now blame the rats for the same. They have claimed that rats drank the alcohol, a report said.
They had kept the seized liquor in a godown in Kaimur district. The officials came to know about the matter on Monday while destroying the seized liquor. The government had started the drive following a court order.
Anupam Kumari, SDM of Bhabhua under Kaimpur district said on Tuesday that about 200 cans had holes. She said these holes apparently had leaked the beer and “prima facie it appears to have been caused by rats. But investigations are on to ascertain the exact cause, she said.
Ironically, the authorities found about nine lakh litres of seized liquor missing from police stations of the state. And the department officials had claimed at that the alcohol was consumed by rats, the report said.
An Excise official said on Tuesday they had kept seized liquor inside the godown for quite long. Though he confirmed holes in the cans but said it would be premature to say anything about the cause.
However, the officials could not confirm the exact quantity of liquor that was missing.
Notably, the Nitish Kumar government had completely banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar two years ago.
