Fugitive tycoon Vijay Mallya’s step mother has impleaded herself in court on Monday in a suit before the Karnataka High Court.

She is contesting Vijay Mallya’s offer of settlement. Her stated intent is to protect her minority interest in United Breweries Holdings Ltd.
“I had inherited one-third share when my husband died in 1983. I have never sold a single share till date,” Ritu told The Times of India.

“I have never taken a loan, I don’t have a roof over my head now,” she said.
“I moved the court to protect my interests,” she said.
The UBHL will exclude shares held by Ritu from the Rs 15,000-cr settlement offer made by her stepson. It is unclear how much stake Ritu holds in UBHL.
