The Chandigarh Administration would soon have another medical college. The UT Administration is working on a new proposal for a second medical college, UT Adviser Manoj Kumar Parida said at the Republic Day celebrations held at Parade Ground Sector 17 on Sunday.
Parida, who hoisted the national flag and gave awards for contributions to the society, said that medical college intake had been increased from 100 to 150 seats.
The administration had already constructed a new sports complex in Sector 39 to improve the sports infrastructure. A “world-class” shooting range is also in the pipeline.
Parida announced that the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will soon launch a mechanism for approving building plans online.
The administration has announced a holiday for all government and private schools on Monday.
