The Hush Post: In a matter of pride for City Beautiful, Chandigarh, its native Charu Sood has won as a councillor of the Elmbridge Borough council, that is considered one of the richest and most vibrant boroughs of United Kingdom (UK).
Charu Sood has been born and brought up in Chandigarh. She is a member of the Conservative Party in the UK. Charu won the election getting over 54 per cent votes and she defeated a Labour Party candidate and an independent candidate, a report said on Monday.
Charu’s father is Shashi Bhushan Sud and mother is Kiran Sud. Her father, Shashi Bhushan, is the president of Sood Sabha in Chandigarh. Charu had shifted to the UK after getting married to Saurabh Sood in 2007. There, Charu, an active member of Residents Society Committee, has also worked in the main branches of banks like SBI and PNB in the UK, the report said.
Charu is a product of St Kabir School and DAV Senior Secondary School, where she completed her Class X and Class XII, respectively. She is a graduate from Chandigarh’s Sector 26-situated Khalsa College. She had begun her career with the Mohali-based HFCL, it was reported.
After getting elected as a councillor, Charu reportedly said that she was passionate about finding opportunities for youth and helping them find new jobs and career opportunities. “I will work with businesses in the Brooklands Business Park to encourage them to promote internships and apprentice opportunities,” Charu was quoted as saying.
“I will push to get priority roads fixed, specifically Queens Road, Seven Hills Road and St George’s Avenue. I will work to bring in speed and HGV restrictions on some residential roads. I will protect our valuable green belt and do all I can to ensure Weybridge Hospital re-opens as soon as possible,” Charu was further quoted.
