The Hush Post: Residents of Zirakpur will face a major power shutdown spanning as long as 35 hours at a stretch from 6 am on Monday morning till Tuesday night. The power supply agency of Zirakpur, Powercom, has informed the public that due to upgradation work to be held at the 66KV Dakoli sub station for 2 days, no power supply will be made.
“Humidity levels will increase in the coming days, then it will be difficult to do maintainance work,” S. Rangi, XEN, Powercom, told a national daily.
“If there is overloading, power cuts will happen more frequently,” he said.
Apartments and flats in and around Zirakpur, Dakoli, Pirmuchhala, Harmilap Nagar, Green City, Mamta Enclave, Baltana, among other areas getting supply from Dakoli power station will be affected.
“Power supply might be given in between if it is possible,” said Rohit Kumar, SDO, Powercom. The residents of the area are questioning the decision of Powercom authorities to carry on upgradation work in peak summer.
As a result of the power cut, there will be no supply of water as well. People have been advised to store water beforehand for use for the next two days.
