Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has arrived in Chandigarh to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to look into the Bargari sacrilege incident. As per the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission on the sacrilege incident, an alleged meeting between former deputy chief minister Sukhbir and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was held at Akshay Kumar’s flat in Mumbai in connection with the release of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s film ‘MSG’.
The meeting was held before the pardon given to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a blasphemy case, the report said.
However, Akshay has categorically denied any such meeting took place at his house. He denied ever having met Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
In an earlier statement Akshay said, “I learnt from social media at some point that Gurmeet Ram Rahim resided for a while at some place in my locality Juhu, in Mumbai. But we never ever crossed each other’s paths.”
While Parkash Singh Badal appeared before the SIT on November 16, Sukhbir was summoned on November 19. Akshay Kumar will appear today at the Punjab Police headquarters, Chandigarh.
The summon orders have been issued separately for the three by SIT member IPG (OCCU) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh.
