Punjab colleges & universities to hold student elections this year after 35 years: Capt Amarinder

The Hush Post: All the universities and colleges will have student organisation elections in Punjab this year onwards. These elections will be held after 35 years. Last they were held was in the year 1983.Punjab student elections

This was announced by the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

The elections were stopped during the times when the state was affected by terrorism.

There are five major universities in Punjab including Baba Farid University of Health & Medical Sciences, Kotkapura, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Apart from it, there are deemed and private universities also.

There are 200 colleges in Punjab including 64 colleges for general education and 74 engineering colleges.
