Sridhar Vashisht of Chandigarh has emerged as the city topper in the CBSE class X results declared today. He has scored 99.4 per cent marks in the matriculation examination.
Sridhar is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya situated in Sector-31 of the UT.
Talking to the The Hush Post, Sridhar says, “I scored 100 marks in Hindi, Maths and Science. And I scored 99 in Social Science, 98 in English. Over all, I scored 497 out of 500.”
Sridhar used to put in six to seven hours every day. During his leisure hours, he reads biographies of eminent scientists. He also plays badminton, football and chess during free time. Now, he intends to take up non-medical.
Sridhar’s father Brij Mohan Vashisht works as a Manager with the Classified department with The Tribune and his mother is a central government employee.
He says, NCERT books and refresher books like RD Sharma are very important for anybody preparing for Class X exams.
13 TOPPERS THIS YEAR
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results for the Class 10 board exams today on its official website.
The overall pass percentage this year is 91.11 per cent.
There are 13 toppers this year who have scored 499 marks each. The top rank is shared by two students of the Panchkula region.
These include Manya of St. Xavier’s School, Model Town, Phase II, Bhatinda in Punjab and Divjot Kaur Jaggi of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Ambala Cantt., Haryana.
Besides, 7 students from Dehradun have made it to the top spot.
