The Hush Post: The Chandigarh residents are all set to face another parking rates hike. This just, three months after the parking prices were doubled up in the city. From next month beginning, the four-wheeler and two-wheeler owners will have to spend double the current amount.
As per the revised rates, for each vehicle, a car owner or a three-wheeler owner will have to shell out Rs 20 for the initial four hours. These rates will double up every two hours and the commuter will have to pay Rs 40 for six hours, Rs 60 for eight hours and Rs 80 for 10 hours. A complete day’s pass would entail spending Rs 50.
Currently, a four-wheeler owner or a three-wheeler owner pays Rs 10 and a two-wheeler owner Rs 5 for four hours. From April 1, two-wheeler owners will have to spend Rs 10 for the first four hours, Rs 20 for six hours, Rs 30 for eight hours. An entire day’s pass for a two-wheeler would be Rs 25.
Simialrly, a mini bus owner will have to pay Rs 40 for the first four hours and Rs 160 for eight hours halt while a tourist bus owner will have to shell out Rs 100 for the initial four hours and Rs 200 for six hour while for 10 hours stoppage it shall be charged Rs 400.
If the four-wheeler owners want passes, the charges for them too would double up. One would have to spend Rs 1,600 per month which at present is Rs. 800, Rs 3,600 for a one-quarter year pass which currently is Rs 1,800. For a half-year pass, the charges would be Rs 7,200 while a full year pass would mean shelling out Rs 12,000.
