A 27-year-old youth died in Sector 23, Chandigarh after the car in which he seemingly got trapped went up in flames inside a park. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Roman Nayyar, son of a junior assistant working with Punjab Irrigation department.
While prima facie it seems to be a car blast sources say, Roman was not in a good mental health.
Roman was under severe depression due to a skin problem for which he was undergoing treatment at the PGI. He was in extreme depression for the past about one week.
He was a Chartered Accountant under training.
The incident happened when the LPG cylinder inside his Maruti Alto car went up in flames.
It is learnt that he left his house in the afternoon under the pretext that he wanted to give an LPG cylinder to his friend.
However, just about 100 metres away inside the park he parked his car. When the car went up in flames he was seated on the rear seat of the car, which raises doubt on whether it was a simple car blast or was there something more to it.
When the people found the car up in flames they tried to break open the windowpanes. However, on seeing the cylinder by the side of the youth all of them withdrew.
