Veteran journalist and former president of Chandigarh Press Club, Akhil Gautam passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness today.
Akhil Gautam was 70-year-old. Akhil Gautam is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh described Gautam as an outstanding journalist. He said that Gautam always stood at the forefront of championing the cause of freedom of the press.
His distinguished services in setting up the Chandigarh Press Club would be remembered by the media, the CM said.
The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives and friends in this hour of grief. The CM’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also mourned the death of Akhil Gautam, saying his death had left a void in the journalistic fraternity.
