The Hush Post: The Mehr Chand Mahajan Dayanand Anglo Vedic College for Women (MCM DAV), in Sector 36 Chandigarh, has acquired the first rank in the National Swachh Campus Ranking 2018.
On Monday, the Principal Nisha Bhargava received the award from Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi.
Bhargava said, “We have received the award under the residential college category. It means both the campus and hostel infrastructure has been adjudged the best.”
Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the college has installed a biogas plant, vermin composting plant. The college has also installed an air quality monitoring system in its campus. It has organised many plantation drives and awareness campaigns on solar power generation, rainwater harvesting and waste segregation.
As per a report, 6029 higher educational institutes had participated in the all-India ranking. Over 4,000 were found eligible. Finally, 51 were ranked under eight categories, including universities, technical institutes, and colleges with hostels and without hostels.
Badheri village in Sector 41, has also been adopted by the college, where sensitisation programmes on sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness are regularly held by students.
