The Hush Post| 10:13 am|one-minute-read| A 23-year-old Chandigarh girl has tested positive for Corona Virus. She had returned from London on Sunday.

The woman showed symptoms on Monday and was tested later in the week; she’s now in quarantine at the Government Medical College and hospital in Sector 32. She had fever and cold at the time she got down at the Amritsar airport. However, the fever subsided later. But her reports came positive for Corona virus.

The new Covid-19 case in Chandigarh takes the national tally to 170 — this includes three people who have died and 14 who have been discharged.

First detected in China’s Wuhan city, the new coronavirus (named Sars-CoV-2) has now been reported in more than 100 countries and has killed over 8,000 people.

Governments have responded with increasingly strict constraints on travel and daily life. Though, this has disrupted businesses and prompted consumers to stay at home.

According to a report in The Hindustan Times, Chandigarh’s state surveillance officer Dr Upendrajeet Singh Gill said, “ A young female, resident of Chandigarh with history of returning from England on Sunday morning, developed fever and cold on Monday. But the symptoms subsided and right now (she has) no symptoms at GMCH-32. She tested positive as per report received from PGIMER’s department of virology.”

He maintained the health department was following all protocols regarding quarantine of people, who may have come in contact with her.
