Hours after the police received a call about a bomb in the premises of Elante Mall in Chandigarh, the search operations were called off as no explosives were found. Hundreds of shoppers who had come to the mall were asked to exit after the Chandigarh Police received a call regarding a bomb scare at the mall.
According to the sources, the people visiting the mall on the occasion of Eid were immediately asked to take an exit route so that comprehensive clean up operation begins.
A bomb-disposal team, police operation cell’s team, anti-sabotage teams, crime branch teams, and local police team conducted the search operation in the mall.
The police and the mall management reportedly used loudspeakers to evacuate the public. Panicked mall-goers started rushing out of the mall which lead to chaos.
UT Senior Superintendent of Police Nilambari Jagdale reportedly said that the police control room received a call saying there were explosives inside the mall. However, the caller refused to identify himself. The caller made a call through the internet which would take more time to trace him.
