The Hush Post: A Ludhiana resident has been arrested for the murder of a 28-year-old car mechanic whose half-burnt body was found in Siswan near Mullanpur in Chandigarh, two days after he was kidnapped.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Ali, had gone missing on April 11 from near the grain market in Sector 39. According to the police, the victim was strangled and then set on fire by the accused. The victim’s wife, Neeta Dogra, who is a dancer, approached the police.
During the investigation, one of the suspects, Ludhiana resident Khem Singh, alias Shanty (31), was questioned. Shanty disclosed that he, along with his brother Sukha, and two accomplices kidnapped the victim in an Innova and took him towards Siswan. They strangled him, bought petrol from a petrol pump near Mullanpur, poured petrol on the victim’s face and set him on fire.
They then took the body to a forest area in Siswan and removed the victim’s clothes. In order to hoodwink the police, they threw the victim’s blue shirt in Khuda Lahora and his mobile phone near Balongi in Mohali.
The background of the murder as told by Shanty to the police is that Neeta had a love marriage in 2013 with Ali. Later when she came in contact with Shanty, who runs an orchestra group, she fell in for him and was living with him for the last three years. However, Neeta recently left Shanty and came back to stay with her husband in Jujhar Nagar, Mohali. So, Shanty hatched a conspiracy to eliminate the victim.
Shanty was arrested in a police raid in Ludhiana and produced before the duty magistrate who sent him to five-day police remand.
