The Hush Post: In a major fire outbreak in a chemical factory in Dera Bassi, Punjab, three persons have reportedly suffered burns injuries after many blasts took place and a subsequent fire sent the factory up in flames.
The chemical plant at Behra village went up in flames on Monday. There is no clarity over the reason which led to this fire.
The injured were rushed to the PGI. One of the injured has reportedly received 76 per cent burns and is serious. The fire broke out at the Maggu chemical plant, where chemicals were stored, around 9.30 pm.
There were a series of blasts in the chemical containers, leading to leaping flames. The part of the plant was gutted in minutes.
Workers working at the plant ran out in panic as fire spread to other units of the factory.
The blasts were probably triggered after a boiler containing solvent burst under high pressure. A dozen fire engines from the Dera Bassi fire brigade station and nearby areas were rushed to the spot. The firefighting was on till late night.
