Master Baldev Singh MLA from Jaiton is going to resign from the Aam Aadmi Party.
He is likely to make an announcement about it at a press conference at 3:00 pm. A former member of the BSP, Baldev Singh now may fight elections from Faridkot which is a reserve constituency.
Jaiton is also a reserve constituency from where he fought the last elections. Master Baldev Singh was the president of the Teacher’s Union of Faridkot and had quite a following there.
Before Sukhpal Khaira, HS Phoolka and Master Baldev’s resignation, AAP had 20 MLAs in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. However, with three MLAs deserting AAP, it will be reduced to 17 lawmakers in Vidhan Sabha.
If another resignation comes from AAP, it will be reduced to the third largest party in the Vidhan Sabha. In that scenario it might lose the position of the single largest opposition party and the Akalis will automatically get to choose from among their leaders – the leader of opposition.
