Mohali court sentences two men to 20 years’ RI in gang-rape case

The Hush Post, Mohali: A Mohali court has sentenced two men guilty of gang-rape to a rigorous imprisonment of 20 years each. Mohali District Sessions Judge Archna Puri also imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 each on the convicted men. The two had kidnapped a minor girl and gangraped her for three consecutive months.

T he guilty, Mumtaz and Ringa Hadsa alias Bulbul alias Raju hail from Bihar. The third accused, Mohammed Allaudin alias Mulla Thekedar, however, was acquitted for want of sufficient evidence.

The victim’s father had lodged a complaint against Mumtaz and Ringa for kidnapping his daughter in Zirakpur police station on May 8, 2016. Both used to work with the girl’s father. The police had at that time registered a case of kidnapping.

Acting on a tip off, the police had on August 19, 2016 arrested Mumtaz and Ringa from a colony in Ludhiana.  The police also rescued the girl from their clutches. The victim was found pregnant in a medical check-up.  The pregnancy was later terminated on the orders of the court.
