The mortal remains of veteran journalist Gobind Thukral, who passed away on Sunday, will be consigned to flames at the Electric crematorium, Sector 25, Chandigarh today. The cremation will take place at 4:00 pm.

Gobind Thukral spent close to three-and-half decades as a journalist and worked with The Indian Express, India Today, Hindustan Times and The Tribune.

His extensive reporting on rural India got him the ‘Statesman Rural Reporting Award’ in 1979.

He was also a fellow of Indian Institute of Advance Studies, Shimla, where he did an extensive research on: Media’s Symbiotic Relationship with violence, ethnic violence, terrorism and war. He penned a book based on his above research: Trouble Reflections: Reporting Violence.
