The Hush Post: Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the investigation against Punjab DGP Siddharth Chattopadhya in the Inderpreet Chadha suicide case.
Earlier, Chathopadhya had moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday against the investigations. His plea was that he was unnecessarily being targeted by senior officers of the Punjab police for investigating the role of SSP Rajjit Singh in drug cases. In his application, he has named two Punjab police top officials.
The court of Justice Surya Kant ordered the stay into the investigation against Chathopadhya by the SIT looking into Inderpresst Chadha case.
In the suicide case of former Chief Khalsa Diwan vice-president Inderpreet Singh Chadha, the special investigation team (SIT) of the police had sought permission to probe the role of S Chattopadhyaya.
Chadha shot himself on January 3, days after his father, Charanjit Chadha, who also headed Sikh organisation CKD, was booked for sexual harassment after a video surfaced showing Charanjit with a woman principal of a CKD-run school. Inderpreet too was booked on the complaint of the woman. On January 5, the woman was among 11 others booked by the Punjab police on charges of abetting suicide.
