The Hush Post: Finally, the police lodged an FIR nine days after a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler was mauled to death by stray dogs in Chandigarh. The UT police have filed an FIR under Sections 289 and 304-A of the IPC against unknown persons at the Sector-19 police station.
According the media reports, the police intend to investigate the matter first, establish the sequence of events and subsequently add the names of the accused.
Family had demanded an FIR against MC officials
It is to be noted that the family of the deceased had stuck to its stance demanding an FIR against the MC authorities holding them accountable for the death. Till now the parents had not given her consent for carrying out the postmortem of the child demanding an FIR to be registered first.
“Had I given my consent to perform the post-mortem, the authorities would have brushed the matter under the carpet and no one would have been held accountable for my child’s death”, Ayush’s moter told The Tribune.
Ayush was attacked by stray dogs while he was playing in a park with his siblings in Sector-18 of the city. The incident has sparked a nationwide outrage while the locals had held the Muncipal Corporation responsible for the episode.
