The Hush Post: In yet another case of visa fraud, a Chandigarh woman was duped of Rs 20 lakh by a Uttar Pradesh resident who had promised to help her get a visa to Canada. The woman had to move court, which in turn, directed the police to file a case.
Acting on the complaint of Sector-28 resident Kamaljeet Kaur, the police have filed a case of fraud against Layaq Ahmed who hails from Bijnaur in Uttar Pradesh. Kaur alleged that she met Layaq in 2016 when he offered his help in getting a visa.
As per Kaur, Layaq had told her that he had contacts with some persons in the Canadian Embassy. He demanded Rs 20 lakh and assured her that she would get her visa within two months. Falling into his trap, Kamaljeet Kaur paid him the money.
After two months, when Kaur tried to contact Layaq, he started evading her. She demanded a refund, but Layaq refused. Distraught, Kamaljeet Kaur moved court. The police is investigating the matter.
