The Hush Post: Chandigarh will face water shortage for the coming two days Monday onwards.
The Kajauli waterworks will not pump water to the city due to repair work of its 66kV power station, the municipal corporation’s public health officials said.
The repair work will begin from 9 am upto 3 pm on Monday and the water supply will be mostly affected during the evening hours (6 pm to 8:30 pm) that day and in the morning (3 am to 8:30 am) on Tuesday, as per a report in The Hindustan Times.
The Municipal Corporation will provide water tanks to areas which face low water pressure during this disruption. This will be the fourth disruption of water supply in the past one-and-a-half months.
The city gets more than 60 million gallon daily (MGD) water from Kajauli waterworks Phase IV, which takes care of the city’s 70 per cent water requirement.
At the time of leakage in the pipeline or other disruption, Chandigarh faces water shortage as the present storage capacity is just 48 MGD, which lasts only half-a-day.
