The accused, Suresh Miri, confessed to killing his wife Laxmi as he suspected infidelity

The Hush Post: Suspecting her of having an extra-marital affair, a jawn of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) is alleged to have killed his wife by electrocuting her private parts. The accused suspected her of infidelity and the incident was reported from Balodabazar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh.

“When Laxmi was washing clothes in the bathroom, Suresh Miri went inside and started beating her. When she fell unconscious, Miri passed electric current to her private parts with the help of a live wire leading to her death on the spot,” Paras Ram Jagat, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Sargaon police was quoted as saying in a report.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused, Suresh Miri, a cook with the 6th battalion of the CAF in Dantewada district, confessed of having killed his wife, Laxmi, as he suspected her of having an extra-marital affair, ASI Jagat reportedly said.

The couple lived in a Housing Board colony with their two kids in Bhatapara, located about 80 km from the state capital Raipur. They reportedly had a heated argument on Wednesday afternoon, it was reported.

“The accused, Suresh Miri, 33, was taken into custody yesterday by Sargaon police in Mungeli district, where he had brought the body of his wife Laxmi, 27, after allegedly killing her,” the ASI was quoted as saying.

After killing her, Miri called up his in-laws and said that Laxmi had taken ill, ASI Jagat said adding that the accused then hired a van and took the body to his native village Khajri in the neighbouring Mungeli district, it was reported.

Then, Miri told his in-laws that Laxmi had died due to the illness. His in-laws confronted him when they saw Laxmi’s body and reported the matter to the cops.

The police took Miri into custody on the complaint of his in-laws. The Bhatapara Police have been informed about his custody and they will reach Sargaon to arrest him on Friday, it was reported.

The Bahatapara Police said the house of the accused, where the alleged crime took place, had been sealed, the report said.
