The Hush Post: A woman has accused renowned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of raping her.

A 34-year old Kathryn Mayorga has accused the footballer of raping her at a hotel in Las Vegas in 2009. She has alleged that Ronaldo gave her $375,000 to keep mum, a report said.

German media outlet Der Speigel has carried a story that accuses Portugal and Juventus FC footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of rape. Kathryn Mayorga has accused the soccer player of raping her in a room of a Las Vegas hotel in 2009. She has said the footballer paid her $375,000 for her silence, the report said.

Another report in The Telegraph said the footballer’s lawyer Schertz Bergmann Rechtsanwälte has issued a statement denying the rape charges.

Terming it ‘blatantly illegal’, Rechtsanwälte said they would pursue ‘moral damages in an amount corresponding to the gravity of the infringement. He said this infringement is probably “one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years.”

Mayorga publicly claimed for the first time that Ronaldo raped her after she spent an evening partying with him. The woman said that time Ronaldo was on holiday with his cousin and brother-in-law in Las Vegas.

She also described events following the incident that how Ronaldo fell to his knees and told her he was “99 per cent a good guy” let down by the “one per cent”.

Ronaldo, who is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner had earlier denied any such allegations claiming that the sex was consensual. The woman’s lawyers are now questioning the validity of the out-of-court settlement agreed in Nevada.

Der Spiegel claims that the lawyer’s case is based on a document containing Ronaldo’s account of what happened. In that the 33-year old footballer is quoted as saying “she said ‘no’ and ‘stop’ several times.”

Ronaldo, who is one of most famous sportspersons in the world, joined Juventus at the start of the season from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

In past, the footballer faced similar charges during his stint at Manchester United in 2003. Then a woman accused him of sexual assault in a suite at London’s  Sanderson Hotel, in October.
