The COVID-19 cases could see a spike in June and July. This was stated by Dr Randeep Guleria, the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi today. He said, “According to modelling data and the way our cases are increasing, it’s likely that peak can come in June and July.” He added, “But there are many variables and with time only we will know how much they are effective and the effect of extending the lockdown.”
Till now, India has seen more than 52,000 cases and about 1,700 deaths. The good news though is that 15,000 patients are infection free now which means that the total number infected now is 35,000.
Maharashtra has the highest number of cases at 16,000, followed by Gujarat and Delhi.
