The Hush Post: A 27-year-old woman purportedly choked her seven-month-old daughter to death. She alleged that the baby was responsible for her family’s poverty in Delhi’s southeast Hazrat Nizammudin. The accused has been recognised as Adiba Khan. This incident occurred on August 20.
Adiba first told the police that her daughter drowned in a bucket of water at their residence, DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said. Abida said she and her husband hurried the baby to a hospital where she was declared brought dead, he added.
However, the medical examination report stated that the cause of death was fatal force on the throat, the DCP said.
Police questioned Adiba, who was at the house during the time of the occurrence. On sustained questioning, Adiba admitted that she had killed her daughter because she thought that her family was facing many health and economic matters since the baby was born, Biswal said. Adiba Khan said that she used a dupatta to strangulate the baby.
After committing the crime, the accused put her body inside a bucket of water so that people get the impression that she died due to drowning, the DCP said.
Then she dashed to inform her husband who was a tailor, at his shop. The duo rushed the baby to a hospital where she was stated and brought lifeless, he said.
