India has reported 12th Corona Virus death. The twelfth person to die is a 60-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh. The country has been put under complete lockdown for 21 days starting yesterday.
All public transport have been banned while any kind of non-essential movement outside the house has also been prohibited.
Prime Minister Modi made the big announcement on Tuesday night and said that this is the only way India can fight coronavirus.
Worldwide, over 18,000 people have died so far. More than 6,000 have died in Italy alone. Italy has now doubled the death toll in China, where the virus originated last year. The total number of cases have crossed four lakh across the world.
The current count of Covid-19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 122. Six new positive patients were confirmed in the state today. Among them — 5 in Mumbai and 1 in Thane.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that at least 5 new Covid-19 cases reported in Delhi. With this, the total number of cases in Delhi reached 35.
Police have registered 1,788 FIRs and booked 5,592 people in Uttar Pradesh for violating the lockdown imposed in view of coronavirus threat, officials said on Wednesday.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi told reporters that the FIRs were filed under Indian Penal Code section 188 which deals with disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant.
