3 Haryana cops extort Rs 19 lakh from businessman at gunpoint; suspended

In what could put the police force to shame, three policemen from Haryana police extorted Rs 19 lakh from a businessman at gunpoint in Delhi.
More so, the police personnel were part of the Special Task Force (STF). It is a special force of the Haryana Police constituted recently to check organised crimes in the NCR.
What happened
On October 31, three policemen, assistant-sub inspector (ASI) Sandeep, ASI Lokesh and Constable Pramod, from the Bahadurgarh STF allegedly kidnapped a businessman from from Ranjit Nagar in west Delhi at gunpoint.
Later, the policemen released him in Rohini area after he payed up Rs 19 lakh.
Busineesman knocks court’s door
The victim approached a Delhi court after Delhi police allegedly refused to register his complaint.
The act of the STF cops has been caught in CCTV cameras. In the CCTV footage of the incident, the businessman can be clearly seen being taken away by gun-toting policemen in plain clothes.
Action taken
“The three policemen have been suspended. Preliminary inquiries by the state police confirm their role in the abduction and kidnapping,” B Satheesh Balan, DIG, SFT, Bhondsi told a national daily.
