3 sisters die of hunger in Delhi, father had lost his rickshaw, was out in search of work

The Hush Post: In a shocking incident of hunger deaths in national capital Delhi, three sisters aged 2,4 and 8 belonging to a poor family have died of starvation. Their father Mangal, a rickshaw puller, had lost his rickshaw for want of money and was looking for a job. The landlord threw the family out of the house in the slums of Mandawali and the family was living in a friend’s house at Talab Chowk when the incident happened late Tuesday night. The mother of the kids, Beena, seems to be mentally challenged.

According to the initial autopsy report, the kids seemed to have died of hunger. The police said that things would be more clear after the second post mortem report is received. The three children had died of starvation resulting from prolonged malnutrition, according to doctors from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where the initial post-mortem was conducted. A board of doctors conducted a re-examination at the GTB hospital, New Delhi.

The children were identified as Mansi (8), Shikha (4) and Parul (2).

Two of the sisters had been unwell for a few days. They suffered from vomiting and loose motion, neighbours said.  The eldest sister had gone to school on Tuesday. The police are probing how she also fell ill suddenly. The police are are investigating the case for any kind of foul play.

A forensic team inspected the place where the family was staying and found some medicine bottles and pills to treat loose motion, the police said.

A magisterial probe has been ordered by the Delhi government, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia told mediapersons.
