The Hush Post: In a daring incident, five men abducted a woman from a mall in Gurugram and then gang-raped her in a guesthouse in Vasant Kunj locality in South Delhi on Monday night. Later the five accused were arrested on Tuesday.
The incident came to light when the rape victim approached the Vasant Kunj police station in the wee hours of Tuesday and apprised the police about the crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (southwest) Milind Dumbere has reportedly confirmed the incident. An FIR has been lodged under sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 376D (punishment for gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), a report said.
The five accused have been identified as Tejvir Singh, Gopal Prasad, Roopinder, Anshul and Ram Babu. All the accused hail from Haryana and work in Delhi, the report said.
The rape victim, who works with a private firm, has told the cops that she had come out of the mall around 11pm and was looking for an auto when the five men approached her and offered to drop her at her destination. Two of the accused are cabbies. On refusing their offer, the accused dragged her in a car and forcibly took her to a guesthouse and raped her taking turns for hours together. The men then left her in the room and bolted the door from outside, the report said.
A cook, who heard her shouts for help, opened the room to let her out, but one of the accused saw it tried to stop her from escaping. But the victim somehow managed to get her hands on a rod and hit the man with it. She then ran out and called a friend who took her to Vasant Kunj police station, the report said.
