Despite the second consecutive reduction, rates of petrol and diesel still stand all-time highs in several cities, including Mumbai and Delhi
The Hush Post: Following a one paisa cut in the petrol and diesel prices on Wednesday, the fuel rates were again slashed marginally on Thursday.
While the rates of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai were slashed by 7 paise per litre, diesel was reduced by 5 paise per litre, Indian Oil (IOC) announced on its website – iocl.com, a report said.
Earlier on Wednesday, the fuel prices were cut after 16 constant hikes. The IOC had committed a faux pas on Wednesday when initially it had announced a cut of around 60 paise per litre across the metros, but hours later rectified the prices on its website citing a glitch.
“There was a technical glitch in posting the selling prices of petrol and diesel on our website…” On Wednesday, Indian Oil Corporation had lowered petrol and diesel prices by 1 paisa per litre across the metros.
Thursday’s reduction in petrol and diesel prices, though very meagre, is the second consecutive cut in the fuel prices.
