Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, was produced before CBI Special Court on Wednesday. He has been sent to five-day CBI custody by the court.

He was brought in yesternight from Dubai. The Dubai government ordered Michel’s extradition on Tuesday. A formal administrative order was passed by the Dubai government after Dubai’s highest court rejected Michel’s plea against extradition.
Christian Michel James is a British businessman who was active in facilitating deals of foreign private players with the Indian government. He was allegedly hired by a private firm AgustaWestland to influence people including politicians, officials and journalists. He is one of the three middlemen accused of bribing several people to secure the deal for AgustaWestland helicopters.
Michel was arrested in February 2017 by the UAE authorities and since then, extradition proceedings had been going on.
