The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) says the arrest is “political vendetta and motivated”
The Hush Post: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Delhi on Thursday arrested the nephew of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with an alleged scam in the Public Works Department (PWD).
Kejriwal’s nephew, Vinay Bansal, was reportedly arrested by the ACB in north-west Delhi. The accused Vinay Bansal was arrested for his alleged involvement in the scam relating to the construction of drains by the PWD as per the reports.
Earlier, three separate FIRs were lodged by the ACB in regard with the alleged scam about a year ago.
The anti-graft body had registered the case last year against the company Renu Constructions and named Vinay Bansal’s father Surender Bansal and others involved in the company’s operations. Soon after the registration of this FIR against his company, Surender Bansal died, the report said.
Vinay Bansal was arrested from his house in Pitampura, north-west Delhi around 4 am, report said.
The FIRs were registered on the complaint of one Rahul Sharma, the founder of NGO Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO) which alleged irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines in Delhi in 2015-16, the report said.
Meanwhile, the AAP termed the arrest as “motivated and an act of political vendetta.” The party said that Vinay Bansal was a dormant partner in the company which is being probed by the ACB. The party alleged that the ACB is being used to malign the image of Arvind Kejriwal, the report said.
